Hoppy Birthday Fenway and Macy…9 years young!!!

20130316_173157(0)Hey there, anyone want to party???  We turned 9 on Saturday.  Woooo Hoooooo!!!
Mommy and Daddy had a special day planned for us.  Party hats,  special cookies, and our friends came up for a visit.

do I smell bacon??
do I smell bacon??

Fenway as been doing really well.  I didn’t think he could get stronger, but it seems he has.  And he also gotten quicker, he can almost keep up with his sister, when they run around.
The neighbor’s dogs come and visit, and they all run around together.  It makes me so happy to watch them all play.

On a sad note, I have finally seen ONE thing that Fenway can not do anymore (since his amputation surgery)…he can’t remove his party hat!!!!   Bahahaha!!!!   That missing front leg would have come in handy, for party hat removal!!!! 🙂    He firgured it out though…he simply walked over to Macy and rubbed his head on her…. hat removed 😉

Well, its time for a walk in the snow.  Fenway’s favorite.  (Yes, we got snow last night…)

Have a great Tuesday everyone!!!

Hugs and sloppy golden kisses from Fenway and Macy

1 day shy of 6 months

At the groomers !! Looking spiffy
At the groomers !! Looking spiffy

We have been away for quite some time.  But, I am happy to say we are doing fine.

Fenway is a true tripawd superstar.
He makes me proud everyday, with his strength, stamina and zest for life.
It seems like nothing can slow him down.  Not snow, not sleet, not ice, nor cold weather.

Yesterday, we did something I thought we would/could never do after his amputation surgery.  We had him groomed.  (I know it seems silly, but I was so scared)  With water, slippery floors, no harness,  a tub up high, and a table to stand on…all of those things could be a problem, I was afraid he could injure another leg…….

Well, he didn’t. he did amazingly well. He is all cleaned up, and very handsome.  (at least I think so)

Also, we would like to tell you, that Fenway had chest x-rays in January…..and so far NO LUNG METS!!!!!

So, on this special day, we are celebrating Fenway, and all the other Tripawd superstars.
Every day is a gift.  Treasure it.

Hugs and sloppy golden kisses to you all.

December 7, 2012…..And all is GREAT

Christmas photos for Grandma and Grandpa

Hello everyone.  We have been away for a while, sorry for this.   We have some good news about our Fenway.  He seems to be healing from his recent ACL problems.   He seems stronger, faster, and happier than he has in months.
I am sure some of this is in part due to the cooler weather.  Fenway ( like Mom) loves the cool weather over the warm.  He gets super frisky and can’t contain his excitement, and happiness.   Chasing away the deer, and the birds is an all time favorite sport for Fenway, and this time of year keeps him VERY busy.

Fenway had his fourth chemo treatment last week, on November 29.  This time, no issues at all.   He did amamzingly well, didn’t cry at all, and didn’t even care about going into the veterinary ckinic.   In fact, he ran in, and went to greet all the dogs in the waiting area.  (I am sure the pawrents were mildly amused by Fen pulling me all over the office on 3 legs!!!)
Afterward, he came home, and acted 100% normal.  No excessive drinking.  No pacing. No stomach issues.  No fatigue.  In fact, he seems stronger and crazier than before.

The day after the treatment, we had our photos taken for Grandma and Grandpa.    Here is the picture of them together.  (and No, we didn’t pose them.  They just laid there together).
This was the first time my friend Jodi had seen Fenway since his amputation…..She was very imressed.  He showed of all of his moves, including the “bad dog” roll.   He simply refused to sit any longer, so he rolled over, and kicked his legs up.  Very silly dog indeed.

We have one more chemotherapy treatment scheduled for December 20, 2012.   Hoping and praying he tolerates it well.

It’s time to finish Christmas decorating.
Happy Friday everyone,

Xoxoxo

Golden Mama Sue, and Tripawd superstar Fenway

Fenway, 11 weeks post-amp, and we are thankful!!!!

loving the smell of the leaves

We have been away for a while.  The last time I posted, we were concerend that Fenway was having a bad reaction to his chemotherapy treatment.  And we also discovered our big strong boy had started limping on his back left leg……Well, he did indeed damage his formerly repaired ACL.  🙁

We have been busy monitoring him, and keeping him happy, and as healthy as we can.   Basically, we have been trying to be more “dog”

Fenway is still a silly, typical golden, tail wagging, eyes bright, and nose is always sniffing.   But there is no doubt his leg is bothering him.

alert and happy

He enjoys all of the attention, and all of the love.   But, his sister gets a little jealous sometimes.  She sits on top of him, if I am laying next to him.   You would think this would offend Fenway, but in fact he enjoys it so much.   The dynamics in the house have changed so much, but some things remain the same….Fenway loves his sister!!!

rolling around in the leaves

He has adapted to lots of playing while laying down, and Macy has too.

I have said before, that every day is a gift with him.  Not to be taken for granted, and I try to spend as much quality time with him.  I worry less about the cleanliness of the house, and the emails backing up, and try to enjoy the outdoors with them as much as possible.
This week, I am thankful, that my boy is so strong.  I am thankful that he still wants to enjoy life.  I am thankful that he still likes to chase the birds, and the deer.  I am especially thankful, that last night, he ran to my car, as I drove up the drive…..Dragging his daddy behind him.   For each morning that he greets me with a smile, I am thankful.  Every day I have with him….I AM THANKFUL!!!

May we all enjoy thanksgiving this week.   I know I am blessed.   Have a wonderful holiday everyone.

2 months (plus 3 days) ampuversary !!!!!

On tueday we celebrated our 2 month ampuversary.  It was a great day for Fenway.   He is going strong.  He seems very happy, and very strong.

(Unfortunately, Hurricane Sandy hit on Monday, so we had no power or internet, and no way to update his status.  Luckily we still had cell service, so we were able to take pictures).

Fast forward to Friday, and he has had his 3rd chemotherapy treatment this morning.  As usual he was a champ.  He didn’t even cry or pant as much as he usually does.  I think he is actually getting used to the procedure, and because Macy comes with us, he stays calmer.

Sadly, I have noticed he is limping on his left back leg.    This troubles me, because he had this knee repaired almost 2 years ago, and it is something I have been worried about.

I am hoping, no, I am praying that he is just a little sore from the treatment.    (SCARED. REALLY SCARED).

Right now he is sleeping, and I am watchig him like a hawk.

If Fenway has taught me anything, he has taught me to make the best of EVERY situation….so I am taking advantage of him being a little extra snuggly this afternoon, and giving him lots of back rubs, and kisses on his big head.

Have a golden day everyone.

Hugs from Fenway and Mama Sue

49 days…..What’s a dog to do?????

Well, 49 days and what is a dog to do???? We went swimming.  Yes, I said swimming.  And a little hopping, and a little playing, and a little frisky business with friends.   It was a great day.

Look at me!!! In the water again!!

We had such a great time.  The weather was quite warm, and the water was nice and cool, and the geese were near by.  (the running picture is while he was chasing a few geese) .

I ran along side my sister Macy, and saw my friend Peanut.  He is a little guy, but I adore him!!!

Macy likes to sit in the water, and I like to swim 🙂

So, this is my update.  My life is good.  I love doing all the “regular” things.  All the “regular” things keep my spirit lifted, and put a smile on my face.   My regular things make me a bit tired, so I rest a lot after I play……But I sure do love doing them.

Mommy still worries about me, and tries to manage my every move…..I understand.   But a dog has to be a dog.   I am trying to teach her this.   She is catching on.   She says every day is a gift.   Sounds good to me.  I really like presents!!!

Have a golden day Everyone,

Fenway and Mama Sue

6 weeks, 2 days, all is well

squirrell hunting

Here is my big guy, he spotted a squirrel.  And off he went.   His 6 week ampuversary was on Tuesday.  he is doing quite well.
Last Wednesday he had his second chemo.  (Knock wood)  he is still doing great.  He, once again, did not get tired.   He got hyper.  Up down, up down, up down, turn around, turn around again, up down, up, spin, spin, dig at my bed, up down, finally watch TV.   Sigh..

Thankfully, he is past this.  He is back to his normal self, and pretty lazy 🙂

Sleeping at my feet right now.  Snoring.

So  far so good.
Must run, I have returned to my part time job at the gym.

I smell squirrels!!!!
chased that squirrel up a tree

Have a beautiful golden Thursday everyone.
