My name is Sue, and my tripawd’s name is Fenway Frank, a golden retriever, 8.5 years old.
The hardest part about this diagnosis, for me anyway, is the lack of information available to us…Thats is until I found the tripawd community.
I was lost, I had so many questions, and so few answers, and then a fried showed my an article in Dog Fancy magazine…..and I must say, Ive got loads of information at my fingertips..
Fenway was just diagnosed with osteosarcoma. He is having his amputation this coming tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012. Its both exciting, and terrifying for us….
Exciting because we are giving him a new way to live, pain free, and different….Terrifying because I cant imagine him, without all 4 legs, and Im afraid he wont thrive……
Many people have told me that he will adapt….I think he will, Im more worried about our adapting to his new life….for instance, how much exercise is enough. When do we stop helping 100% of the time, when do we let him play with his sister again?
all of these things are running thru my mind, keeping me up at night…..One thing is for sure, I love my dogs…..And i cant wait to see him, no longer in constant pain.
Tuesday is almost here….Please wish us luck
Thanks Tripawd community!!

So good news. Fenway had his surgery. He is officially a tripawd superstar. The doctor called a few minutes ago. And he told me FENWAY WAS RUNNING ON 3 LEGS. ALREADY. In fact, they had to reel him in, and bring him inside. Too much too soon and all.
Needless to say, I am a very proud Mama.
Will update later on. We are off to pick him up.
