day 3 starts with a little yawn..
Last night, Fenway ventured up to the front yard. He took many breaks before getting there, but he did it on his own.
Once there, he chilled out, watched the birds, growled at the squirrells, and ate his favorite treat, a pear.
Then he slept. I believe he needed a change of pace, from the confines of the downstairs family room, and his Mama staring at him all day (sorry, I cant help myself). So there, on the lawn, he took a long nap, his beloved sister, Macy, right by his side.
For dinner, we offered to feed him, while he was laying down, instead he opted to stand. And he didn’t falter at all. 🙂
However, I believe he did too much, so we opted to carry him back to the lower lawn….He was just a bit too tired to make such a long trek after his big adventure.
He slept like a rock last night, and we even had to wake him to go out and go pee pee this morning. But once out, he did his business, and even managed a few barks at the lawn guys. Then he stood up, and hopped back inside. He is resting now. Not sleeping, resting.
So far, so good. Not great. But good. I will take it.
We will check back in later.
Fenway, and his Mommy Sue
Hi Sue- I saw and moderated your post over in the fourms- just so you know your future posts will not have to wait, just the first post from a new member.
Fenway sounds to me like he is doing just fine! Did you raise his food and water bowls? If he is already eating on his own they you might not need to worry about it- but it can help with balance, especially with a front amp.
I raised Maggie’s food dish and she refused to use it. She was an obstinate little thing! She was also a rear amp so leaning forward was pretty easy for her.
Keep it up Fenway!
Karen and the pugapalooza
Heck I think this sounds great! Not every dawg will be bouncing off the walls right away and honestly I think those that do are putting themselves at risk of injury so soon after surgery. So I think Fenway is super duper wise by taking it easy and just showing enough spunk so you don’t worry too much.
I agree, raised food bowls really help. Remember dogs carry 60 pawcent of their weight up front, and balancing is tricky for a front legger, at first anyhow. You can even just place his bowls on a box or something, with a towel underneath to keep them from sliding around.
Take it easy together this weekend, things will start getting more exciting bit by bit.
Hi Karen,
We always had raised feeders, simply because our goldens were bigger, and taller, and they both used to burp, a lot, when they were fed down lower. (Probably from too much air getting in their stomachs)
Until last night, we had opted to feed him while he was laying down, but last night, Fen made the decision to stand up, and eat side by side with his sister. I think its what he is used to, so it is normal for him to do so. He didnt falter. (I am impressed)
So far so good.
Xoxo Fenway, and Mommy Sue
Ok, so maybe not too tired.
A friend just stopped by, and Fenway hopped up on his own, and went to greet her. He stood for a bit, and then he decided to hop outside . A few more steps, and he plopped down, tail wagging. (I think he was pretty proud of himself.)
We stayed there for about 10 minutes, and he decided it is too humid outside, so he hopped back in…..(He hates the heat and humidity just like Mama) . Sleeping again.
Ok, I guess we are tired today 🙂
Way to go Fenway! Sounds like your recovery is going well. Wishing you all the best in the coming weeks 🙂
