Day 7 brings us to sept 11, 2012. A sad say for many. A day of rememberance of the terror attacks on the USA. But for us, this day is a celebration.
If not for the bandages, and the missing leg, I wouldnt even know there was anything different.
He is back to pooping on a regular basis, and he is back to his very happy self. His appetite is great, and the wound looks good.
He is happy, silly, bright eyed, and bushy tailed. He is growling at the noises outside, and when the doorbell rang (his new ruffwear harness arrived) he jumped to his feet, and went to the door to greet Mr. Fedex. (just like he did before the surgery)
The only problem we have now, is a small wound developing on his elbow. And we have figured out a way to pad it for now. ( we cut a piece of memory foam pad, off an old dog bed, wrapped it in gauze, and wrapped sticky gauze around it to keep it in place) Voila, a perfect bendable, moveable cushion. It works for now. We will make a better one later.
Tomorrow is his first vet visit, post-op. I am a little nervous about getting him into the vehicle, but we will figure it out.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

Glad to hear Fenway is doing great!! It’s always nice when you see your ‘baby’ return to their wonderful selves!!
Wish I knew more about what to do for the elbow sore. Charlie hasn’t had that problem, but I’ll be watching for recommendations you receive, just in case that becomes a problem for us.
What causes it? I have forgotten which leg Fenway lost. Is it just an area on his good leg that rubs when he’s laying down or getting up?
Charlie tends to lay in his bed on the floor, or an a pillow (on the furniture) If he does lay on the area rug, he’s usually on his side. He can quickly right himself and get up without too much ‘friction’ on his good leg. I’m just curious what is causing the sore for Fenway.
If you end up having to protect the area with vet wrap (the thin stretchy self adhering type ace bandage) I know a great/cheap web site to order from. We had to ‘stock up’ on it pre-amputation to protect Charlie’s dragging foot.
Hope you find a way to prevent the sore. Not fun to always nurse a wound. (We did it for six months on Charlie’s dragging foot)
Hugs…..

Congratulations Fenway!
Way to get back to normal so quickly!!
It’s just wonderful on the family when they come around and act like nothing has happened. Makes us feel so happy and relieved doesn’t it?!
So very true!!!!! he doesnt seem to mind at all. We are adapting, slowly. I know he thinks we are nuts!!!! He is right!
@Charliewarlie,
The wound was caused by Fenway trying to ease himself down to a laying position. I believe the rugs were causing the problem. He is a front amp, so the left front leg is doing most of the work.
We wrapped it, and it seems good.
Doctor looked yesterday, and its doing much better.
Hoping everything goes smoothly from here on out.
Have a great day.
