Day 25 and 26 and we have run into a few problems.
Last night Fenway seemed very uncomfortable, and was panting quite a bit.
He was fine most of the day, and it wasnt until he came in for the night, that he changed. He paced, and turned, and paced, and turned, until finally we contacted the vet. She suggested we gave him a few tramadol. This seemed to help, and he slept pretty well.
This morning, he seems a little off. Tail is held low, and he is having difficulty getting comfortable, and seems to be moving slower than usual. The panting has stopped, but we noticed some bruising on his under carriage, so a phone call to the vet was made. (Mind you, he still ate and drank, and even pottied) but there is definitely something different about him.
We will be taking him in for some blood work, and a physical exam. Praying he is going to be ok.
If you have time, could you send up a prayer for my boy??
Thanks
Fenway and Mama Sue
Sending my thoughts and prayers to Fenway right now! Hopefully he’s just feeling a little down this morning. Please update when you can!!
Praying for Fenway. Hoping today is just a little bump in his road to recovery. It’s good that you are monitoring him so close. Please keep us posted when you can.
Healthy energy heading your way from AZ. Praying it is a small setback and Fenway will be back to his golden way of living soon. Please let us know what you find out from the vet visit.
golden kisses from Samdog
Hopefully he just overdid it or could he have bumped himself with the bruising. I will say a prayer for your golden boy.
Thank you everyone. he has an infection!!. Phew, thats it. I was so scared. His blood work came back with elevated white cell count, so his immune system is working, or trying to work…..The pain, is probably from the infection being trapped under the skin (no oozing, or any discharge to be seen)
The Doc put him on Clavamox for infection, and some pain medicine to keep him comfortable. As I type, he sleeps.
All in all a pretty good visit. (ps he actually WANTED to go into the clinic, that’s a huge change from the usual behavior)
OOOOH! Yay I’m so glad to hear it’s nothing serious! I’m so glad you came back with an update. Saw your post in the forums this morning and was wondering how he was doing.
May his dreams be filled with lots of squirrels and rabbits! Yay Fenway!!!!
Jerry, funny you mentioned squirrels…..as we were exiting the clinic, a squirrel ran past the door…Needless to say, fenway wanted to get it. Hair all raised, and tail up, ears perked right up. (guess an infection cant keep the great squirrel hunter down!!) we held on, and did not let him give chase….but he wanted to go!!!! 🙂
I’m glad that by the time I’m reading Fenway’s update, you have determined it’s nothing tooo serious. Glad his immune system seems to be on track!! Hoping he starts feeling better after the meds kick in!! It’s wonderful that you know Fenway so well, you quickly identified he was a bit off.
Hugs to Fenway – hope he’s feeling much better!!
