2 months (plus 3 days) ampuversary !!!!!

On tueday we celebrated our 2 month ampuversary.  It was a great day for Fenway.   He is going strong.  He seems very happy, and very strong.

(Unfortunately, Hurricane Sandy hit on Monday, so we had no power or internet, and no way to update his status.  Luckily we still had cell service, so we were able to take pictures).

Fast forward to Friday, and he has had his 3rd chemotherapy treatment this morning.  As usual he was a champ.  He didn’t even cry or pant as much as he usually does.  I think he is actually getting used to the procedure, and because Macy comes with us, he stays calmer.

Sadly, I have noticed he is limping on his left back leg.    This troubles me, because he had this knee repaired almost 2 years ago, and it is something I have been worried about.

I am hoping, no, I am praying that he is just a little sore from the treatment.    (SCARED. REALLY SCARED).

Right now he is sleeping, and I am watchig him like a hawk.

If Fenway has taught me anything, he has taught me to make the best of EVERY situation….so I am taking advantage of him being a little extra snuggly this afternoon, and giving him lots of back rubs, and kisses on his big head.

Have a golden day everyone.

Hugs from Fenway and Mama Sue

  1. Having an extra snuggly dog sounds pretty good to me right now (stuck at work)! I hope nothing major is going on with Fenway’s leg. I was such a worry wart when Max was going through his cancer journey. I say if Fenway continues to limp and you’re still worried, a call to the vet couldn’t hurt. Everyone on this site has put their vets’ unborn children through college anyway, so they can answer a phone call for free! Sending positive thoughts to your boy!

  2. What a great photo! I hope the power outage was the extent of your brush with Hurricane Sandy. The photos on the internet of the affected areas look just terrible.

Way to go Fenway on your 3rd chemo treatment! Just outstanding!

I agree, if he’s still limping… place a call to your vet. Hopefully it is just fatigue…. he looks so regal and healthy in the photo!

  3. Happy Ampuversary Fenway! That is a great picture of the pups together.
I’m glad you made it through the storm relatively OK- I’ve been worried about all our east coast friends.
I think you should get the leg checked out- on the cancer journey knowledge is power. Knowing what you are dealing will allows you to make a plan and hopefully take control of the situation.

  4. Happy Two Months! That is such a pretty picture. I agree with everyone about having the vet check thinks out. Shortly after his amp Zeus started crying when he moved around and we were worried to death. Within minutes the vet was able to find the sore spot in his back and determined that it was nothing serious. That was huge piece of mind. Knowledge really is power. Good luck and keep those ampuversaries coming!

    1. I have called the cancer center, and I have contacted our regular vet. Right now he seems ok, but I will bring him in tomorrow if he needs to be seen. (Ps he had his cathater in that leg today. Maybe its sore from that). Praying

  5. Hi Fenway and family!
We were thinking of you last week during the storm. I’m glad you made it safely through.

Hoppy ampuversary, Fenster! You are looking good buddy keep it up. Our paws are crossed the vet gives you good news about the sore leg.

Big hugs and wet noses from our pack to yours, today.

  6. So far, he seems to be doing better. The vet put him back on tramadol, and rest….He seems to be dealing with this treatment pretty well (ha ha, he has always loved a good nap…and the extra massage and attention is a bonus!!)

We are icing the leg, and walking on leash only now. This seems to help as well.

Fingers crossed he is on the mend.
